Employing questionnaires of 381 college students, this study examines the explanation why Latinos, Asians, and whites choose to incorporate or exclude blacks as potential dates. First, we discover that previous structural explanations for low rates of interracial intimacy clarify present disparities much less amongst younger individuals at present. Only 10 % of respondents cited a structural rationalization, lack of familiarity, or contact, as the rationale they excluded blacks as potential dates. Second, the reasons for black exclusion differ throughout racial–ethnic–gender teams. Among non-blacks, whites were the most open to dating blacks, followed by Latinos and Asians.

All of the eight male individuals in my interview pattern have been in their twenties. Two men were in unique couple relationships, meaning that they had been relationship or having a romantic relationship with only one different individual.
